Preparations are in full swing for the highly anticipated South East summit on economy and security, which is being sponsored by the South East Governor’s Forum in collaboration with Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex sociocultural organization of the Igbo ethnic nationality.

The event, scheduled for Thursday, September 28th to Friday, September 29th, will be held at the Landmark Events Center near Protea Hotel in New Owerri.

In a press statement issued by Senator Chris Anyanwu, the Chairperson of the mega summit planning committee, it was emphasized that there is no conflict or clash between the summit and the Igbo Day 2023 program. Both events have received the approval and support of all the South East Governors and the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

Senator Anyanwu emphasized that hosting the summit in Owerri, the heart of the Eastern Heartland, holds significant meaning for the people of the same ethnic nationality.

“The programs of both events have been structured to accommodate the schedules of their Excellencies, the South East Governors, the Leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, and all individuals who have roles to play in both events,” stated Senator Anyanwu, underscoring the concerted efforts to ensure smooth coordination.

The summit, which aims to tackle the pressing issues of insecurity and economic development in the South East region, has garnered the keen interest of the host governors from Imo, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu States. They eagerly anticipate the attendance and active participation of invited guests in the diverse activities planned for the event.

Senator Anyanwu urged participants to approach the summit with a sense of purpose, stating, “Remember that this is a serious search for understanding the problem of insecurity and finding effective solutions. Secondly, the summit is also about charting the way forward for the South East on the economic front. So, come with your ideas and solutions.”

Confident in the committee’s preparations, Senator Anyanwu assured invitees that the summit would be robust and seamless, leaving an indelible mark on the historical record of the zone.

As stakeholders and participants eagerly count down the days, the South East summit on economy and security promises to be a significant platform for dialogue, collaboration, and strategizing to address the challenges faced by the region and pave the way for a prosperous future.
